COVID-19 Swimming Pool and CPO Course Information

Latest Swimming Pool Information From the CDC 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the following regarding COVID-19, Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs: 

Can the COVID-19 virus spread through pools and hot tubs?

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

Please note – this does not put your swimming pool at a lower level of risk – it simply states that chlorinated water is an unlikely source of transmission. Social isolation is still advised. 

Swim lessons, swim teams and group exercise classes in the pool should be considered in the same sense as similarly social dry-land programming. Spatial distancing in hot tubs, whirlpools and other smaller bodies of water is also advised. 

Updates to Certified Pool Operator Classes 

Communication – If you are already signed up for a class you should already be receiving regular course updates. If you are not receiving updates, please email tim@aquaticcouncil.com with your personal email address. 

Course Schedule – Unless otherwise noted below, all courses are running at original times and locations. This schedule may update frequently. All students will be advised of changes via email. If we are unable to confirm the receipt of a course change participants will be notified of changes by phone.  

Transferring to Another Class – If you would like to change to another course date or location, please let our office know. No fees will be charged. Please see our full schedule here.

Online Options – The PHTA has authorized a 100% online version of the Certified Pool Operator Course. Please click here for full details.

Mailing of Textbooks – Textbooks may take 7-10 days to arrive after we receive your enrollment information. We’ll work quickly to process all enrollments in the order they are received. You can help us by enrolling two weeks in advance of your start date. In limited scenarios when shipping is not an option we may supply you with your book on the day of your class.
