KURT E. CARMEN

Your instructor, Kurt Carmen is a retired Director of Aquatics at The Ohio State University and has been employed in the field of aquatic administration since 1972. He has been instructing the CPO Course since 1986, certifying 7,044 commercial swimming pool operators to date; more than any other instructor. His approach to the course content is practical. Operational problems are addressed with real-life experience, not just related theory. Kurt is lively and the course content stimulating. His courses have always sold out and usually have a wait list.

Kurt represents the United States Department of Public Heath — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as their representative to the International Sanitation Foundation and serves on the faculty of the International Club Managers Association.

In addition to teaching, Kurt Carmen consults regularly on the design, engineering, operation and maintenance of aquatic facilities.

   

TIM AUERHAHN

Tim Auerhahn serves as the Aquatic Director for Midtown Athletic Club, an upscale sports resort in Rochester, New York. As a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Sports Management, Tim has crafted a unique perspective in the field of aquatics. In addition to his current position, he has also held roles as the Aquatic Director for one of the largest YMCA's in the nation and a world renowned golf and country club in Columbus, Ohio.

Tim's experiences in aquatics are combined with a matchless passion for top notch customer service. At Midtown, he regularly teaches BeRemarkable, a full day service training program developed for Midtown by the Ritz Carlton. In his second year at Midtown, Tim took over facility management. His teaching perspective now encompasses strong risk management, financial and operational components.
